The DJ Is Who Holds
the Night Together
Your photographer captures the day and your caterer feeds it, but the DJ is the one steering it — cueing the processional, reading whether the room wants another slow song, getting 120 people from their tables onto a dance floor, and making sure nobody misses the toast because they were outside.
I've done over fifty of them in the past five years, at thirty-plus venues around North Georgia. Enough to know that the reception rarely runs exactly to the schedule, and that the job is mostly about absorbing that without your guests noticing.
That job doesn't fit neatly into a billing window, which is why I don't sell one. You get a single flat rate that covers the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the reception, and I stay until the venue closes. No overtime conversation at 10pm while your guests are still dancing.
I'm an open-format DJ, so I'm not going to lock your night into one genre. I take your must-play list and your do-not-play list seriously.

Ceremony
Prelude music, processional and recessional, plus a wireless lapel mic so your vows are actually audible at the back row.
Cocktail hour
Music keeps running at a lighter tempo while you're away with your photographer.
Reception & MC
Grand entrance, first dances, toasts, cake, bouquet — announced clearly and on cue, working from the timeline we build together.
Lighting
Uplighting around the room, plus dance floor lighting once the party starts.
Sound & mics
Professional speakers, wireless handheld and lapel microphones, and backup equipment on site every single time.
Planning
Once you're booked, a detailed questionnaire covering must-plays, do-not-plays and the run of the day — preview a sample — plus a reception timeline I share with your other vendors.
Additional fees only apply if you ask for something that needs extra time or expense — and we agree it in advance, in writing.
On the day
How It Actually Runs

About two hours before
I arrive and start setting up. Setup takes roughly an hour, so there's deliberate slack built in — if a table needs moving or the power isn't where I expected, it gets solved before guests arrive.

Ceremony
Sound checked and tested well ahead. Prelude as guests are seated, then the processional and recessional exactly on your cues.

Cocktail hour
Music continues while you're off taking photographs, and I reset the main room for the reception.

Grand entrance & dinner
Introductions for the wedding party, then background music at a level where your guests can hear each other talk.

Formalities
First dance, parent dances, toasts, cake. I announce each one so nobody is caught out or misses it.

Open dancing to close
Reading the room and keeping the floor full, mixing genres rather than running long blocks of the same sound. I stay to the venue's closing time.
Something extra
Karaoke, If You Want It
I host karaoke regularly at bars and restaurants around North Georgia, which means I can bring the whole thing to your reception — the library, the screens, the sound, and someone who knows how to get a nervous first-timer through their opening line.
Not every couple wants it, and it's entirely optional. But for the ones who do, it tends to be the part guests bring up afterwards.

That's twelve of the thirty-plus wedding venues I've worked across Dahlonega, Cumming, Gainesville, Toccoa, Helen and beyond. Knowing a room in advance means I already know where the power is, how the space sounds once it's full of people, and how long load-in takes.

The Questions Couples Ask
It isn't limited by hours. I'm there for the whole event, typically until the venue's closing time, for the same flat rate.
At least a month is sensible, and I take bookings more than a year out. I can sometimes accommodate last-minute dates — it's always worth asking.
I draft a contract you can sign online, then a 30% non-refundable booking fee holds the date. You can see a sample wedding contract before committing to anything.
Yes, I carry DJ insurance, and on request I'll add your venue to my policy — most venues ask for this.
Completely. The questionnaire covers must-play songs and a do-not-play list, and you decide whether guests can make requests at all — including which kinds of request I should decline.
I carry backup equipment to every event, without exception.
My usual range is about an hour from Cumming (ZIP 30041), but I'm open to weddings further out. Send me the venue and I'll tell you straight away.
